Al Sultan Ibrahim - Down Town Beirut

Updated Review

We were invited by Al SUltan Brahim and Zomato to a foodie meetup , and this time it was way better than the time i visited in april ! From the service to the attention to details to the food taste !

We kicked the night off with a set of cold appetizers :

-Tabboule (beyond delicious)
-Fattoush ( 4 of us agreed it was inedible due to salt chunks in it ! )
-Mutabbal (you cant go wrong with that )
-Warak Enab ( It was perfect and lemony )
-Fresh Crab Salad ( Satisfying)
-Sashimi Mix (wasn't introduced since they had doubt about the freshness of the salmon which shows us how professional they are and dont compromise their quality ! but we got served the tuna which was amazing )
-Scallops Sashimi (not my favorite but were edible and good )

Hot MEZZE

-Balila al sultan (tasteless and needed seasoning)
-Potatoes with summak ( Crunchy and tasty_
-Seafood Rolls ( Great taste  , crunchy and fresh_
-Grilled Octopus ( Perfect)
-Scallops Tripolitaine (Festival Of Flavors)
-Fish Teryaki ( This was the star of the hot mezze for me )

Main Course

-GAMGRILLED Marinated shrimps - Juicy on the inside and perfect after taste
-Grilled Fish (Sea Bass) - It was grilled covered in salt ! which keeps the inside fresh and juicy and the outside crispy ! just WoW

I recommend this place and recommend trying the specialties they have now and the menu twists !

Old Review

Well am gonna be fair with this review and write exactly what happened and the verdict without being subjective about anything (at least ill try..)

Actually the fact is there is a chain of restaurants that sets the standard for this type of seafood places (Starts with a B ends with an L ) and after trying them you just raise your standards and expect all places to be the same .... well NO .....

First off we went to the new branch in downtown for dinner , we first arrived and were welcomed with an always smiling hostess and guided to the elevator to the first floor where you are welcomed by another pair of hostesses and guided to your table ....

First you get complimentary nuts and seeds with a paid bottle of water that you didn't ask for ...

And then comes the waiter to take your order ...

We started with some specialty appetizers :

-Hummus akkari ( OKAY)

-Tajen ( you can taste the ta7ina more than anything)

-Tripoli's Harra (Which is the same as tajen but more spicy and the waiter didn't even mention that we already ordered tajen and shouldn't be ordering this !! )

-Rocca Crab Salad ( the best appetizer i had there)

-Breaded Calamari ( Amazing )

-Fakharet 2raydes ( OK for a 34,000 LBP Appetizer )

-Spicy coriander potato (Tasted 3ade )

Then for the fish we had a HUGE Sea Bass which tasted heavenly .

The Verdict :

-Service is good , not the best but good

-Portions are small

-Some items are overpriced

-Fish smell inside the place can be a bit annoying
