PRUNE French Bistro - Lebanon
Thanks to Zomato for the foodie meetup at Prune ...
First of all we arrived at 7:30 Sharp , a couple of people were there waiting for the rest to arrive , we were served a bread basket and peanuts , we waited for almost 65 minutes to be served the first dish which arrived at 8:35 sharp ...
And the menu goes as below :
Starters
-Salade Romana .. Was chewy and had some hard parts , the Rucola was bitter !
-Calamars Grille ... The calamari parts were salty ! literally full of salt ! and you can't take more than one bite of it because its un-chewable (to be fair i tasted it from the other plate next to me it was a bit better )
-Burata et tomate cerise , pesto , it needed salt , the cheese was so creamy on the inside in a strange way , needs a lot of pesto ! (couldnt taste the pesto)
-Salade Chevre et Prune , My favorite starter ! all perfect from the first bite but i would recommend if they add extra dressing aside since some bites were dry ,
Now lets cut to the chase and talk about the main dishes ,
-Entrecote tagliata style , frite : First and this is a common mistake in most of the places that serve entrecote , no one asked me how i like my steak ! i mean i like mine well done (i know its wrong to eat steak like that , but its a personal culinary favorite ) .... so i asked if it can be done that way and they were more than nice to serve me a special well done steak (though some parts were still medium well) .. it tasted great but again it needs a bit of dressing sauce to make it taste less dry
-Risotto aux cepes : i couldn't take more than one bite , the truffle oil used in it had a dominant strong smell and taste that made it un-edible !
-Poulet au Prune , Pomme Puree : This was my favorite main dish ! OH THE PRUNES with the chicken ! that sweet taste in the plate ! i wished the plate didn't end !! and to make things better the mashed potatoes aside were more than perfect !!
Desserts :
For me these were the stars of the show !
We were served A piece of Gateau Chocolat which was amazing for me ! perfectly done , perfect sweetness, and soft on the inside .
The pain retrouve was perfectly THICK , dripping with caramel and maple syrup , ith a scoop of vanilla ice cream aside , It was soo good no one left a piece in his plate , but as a recommendation for it to be even better (since its one of the best that ive tasted ) they should add more syrup to it since the inside needs to be more juicy ,
As an overall experience we had fun enjoyed some of the plates served and some we had comments , and the owner promised to take those into consideration since he is one of the most professional owners ive met , ....
